Hi all, I have not been on chordie for awhile but check posts time to time. I really need to vent a little.
  I lost my mom sunday. She had been hospitalized for the past 6 weeks in and out of icu. A young 74.
  A smoker all of her adult life. She did not die from the reason she was hospitalized but from her lungs
  not able to get her the needed O2 for recovery. Cigarette smokers can only use a portion of their
  lungs and the area that is void can fill with fluids making breathing difficult or worse.

  Now I'm not a saint, having smoked off and on, but tobacco free for near 3 years now. I had also
   rolled a few and packed a pipe occasionally with not so legal substances only to find that I really
   didn't like it, just being one of the crowd so to speak. Just wondering if I would still have my Mom
   had she smoked the illegal stuff instead of the stuff that is "legal" for businesses to sell and the
   government raking in big bucks in tax revenue oh and how about the health industry $$ taken in
   from smoking illnesses??

I will NEVER smoke or take drugs. and maybe I'll never drink as well. (I'm not 18 yet so I can't drink anyway.) I want to be a healthy person.

Papaguitar - I lost my mom to cigarettes too.  Well, some of it was cigarettes.  I also lost one of my fishing buddies to them this past Fall.  I hate those things.  I don't get on people who smoke, as I believe in live and let live.  Still.  I hate those things.

Anybody who ever grew pot in the woods will tell you that deer and cattle etc... will gobble up every pot plant they find.
I had a relative who was so paranoid and nervous she was miserable.
Her upbringing would never allow her to consider smoking pot but our family doctor told me it would have helped her a lot.
Ever hear of a pothead starting a bar fight?

We pronounce it "Guf Coast".

I used to volunteer for NORML way back in the early 90s.  I'm glad to see a lot of "green cross" type co-ops becoming more prevalent.  I believe every state on the west coast now has protections for medical marijuana.

Someday we'll win this thing...

Yeeeep, that is how I was introduced to it.
Some of my friends were smoking out in an abandoned house's livingroom after a skate comp we were in earlier. After changing out of my gear and taking a shower I met up with them at the abandoned house.

When I walked in, the room was thick with smoke. It smelled good (better than horrible cigarettes) so I hung out for a little while.
Then the giddiness hit me. They knew I caught contact by the way I was laughing.
We all decided to celebrate by getting some St ides Special Brews and going for a walk around the neighborhood.

good times back in the old days.
