Agreed.  I don't care if folks want to smoke it, but I'd rather that it not be around me.

I did smoke it a few times in high school,but I liked beer better so I stuck to it. a couple of years later two of my best friends died from drugs so I have a real grudge against them.

I'm with Russ on this one. : J     A natural grown plant is 1,000,000 times less dangerous than  the violence stimulated from right/left-winged political propoganda, cigarettes, cigars, alcohol, and pea brained-closed minds. Like it or not folks, it's only a matter of time before the ol' hippee lettuce is gonna be just as common as 'tater chips and soda pop. And by the way, I plea the fifth...........

Under the right circumstances, I believe that it is not any worse for a person than having a few drinks of alcohol.  I watched this one British show where they went to Amsterdam and experimented with all the different varieties in a "coffee house"... much like having different flavored coffees although more like trying different drinks.  They also did some testing on the effects of driving a vehicle after use, and they showed the comparison to driving a vehicle after alcohol use.  In this particular testing, the alcohol induced driving was FAR more dangerous than marijuana.  It was QUITE interesting.  Frankly, I'd not want to be on the roads with anyone under the influence of anything (including many legal prescription drugs as they can throw you for a loop!).  BUT, just like Alcohol, I believe people need to be careful.  Sadly, as it's not regulated you never do know what you're getting (unless you know the person that grew it).  I wouldn't want to get a second hand high, so I feel for you Roger.  If you aren't choosing it on your own, it's just as bad as someone slipping something into your drink.  As for my personal use, I'll Plead the Fifth with Toney!    Russell, I love brownies but I think that's just my chocolate addiction and that's another story!  ha ha!

i dont smoke, never have and believe that smoking ordinary or the suped-up stuff, is antisocial and dangerous! to the smoker and/or the inocent bystander.

my oldest son began smoking "weed" on a regular basis, and went totally off the rails. even now 10 years later, he cant maintain a relationship, he suspects his partners of playing around, he just loses his rag at the slightest thing and is very agressive yet so insecure unless he has a drink. now i believe he has a drink problem which has led to liver problems.

he has also experimented with other stuff, stopping short of heroin! he is clean now but the effects have remained.

my advice....stay well away.

the strongest drug i have tried is paracetamol, two at a time every 4 hours (as recomended) and then only till the headache passes.  i'm a good boy

This is a relevant issue these days. Almost everyone has an opinion one way or another. The drug war is a mess. People are suffering whether they deserve it or not.
I smoked cigarettes for 45 years, pot for 40. I quit tobacco when I found I had heart disease. I quit pot when the weight gain became a problem.
Sobriety is a fun trip all it's own. I finally am free of any need to smoke anything and what a relief it is. Both habits took their toll on my health.
The current generation doesn't need to smoke anything either but they must chose and live with the consequences. I am inclined to discourage drug use including alcohol but in a free country all can decide for themselves.
God willing we can stay free.

My point exactly  Smoke a cigarette and you imbibe 420 chemicals, smoke a joint and imbibe 523.

Yeah.  I've just seen smart people become very stupid very fast when smoking it.  Maybe in the minds of those smoking, their behavior is affected, but if you stay straight around people who are smoking you'll see a different story.  That's my personal observation anyway. 

As I said, I don't care if people want to smoke it. I've got my own bad habits and so I'd be a hypocrite to pass judgement.  But I do prefer not to be around people when they choose to partake.  That's fair, I think.

Yea Zurf, If they're not real pot smokers it'll affect them more the first few times they do it... Just like cigarettes, the first few packs you smoke have you so light headed you can hardly stand up, but once you smoke a few, it doesn't affect you that way anymore. Same way with pot, the first few times ya get high you get giddy and stupid acting if smoking the wrong kind (sativa). After those first few times though it's just a calming/relaxing affect.
Cannabis is broke down into 2 basic categories/species sativa and indica, Sativa is more of a giddy high (pick me up) and indica is more of a stoned high (relaxant)... There's a big difference between observing real pot smokers and just recreational users. And yep your outlook on it is very fair

Don't get me wrong guys, I'm not telling anyone to go out and do it, I just think it's better if people really understand it...

I've smoked enough pot to crush you if it fell on you.  Frankly, I just don't have the time.

Had a lead guitar player tell me his playing was vastly better when he got stoned. I told him to go smoke some and then join us on stage.
He wasn't all that great sober. Stoned, his playing was measurably worse. HE thought he was better.
