Re: What is the source of the Martin D18 mystique?

I've thought about a guitar fund, and vacation, new tv, house repairs, new car, kids college, retirement, etc... the list goes on.  Every time I think about setting a jar in my room to save dollars in, I remind myself that I don't have enough room (or jars) for all the things I'd like to save for!  LOL!

It is a good idea though.  Maybe I should just make an "Amy Fund" and then determine to only use it on things for ME and not everyone, and then another one for the family.  That MIGHT work!  smile

I'd love to abandon TV! Jerome you are right on about women and TV purchases, my experience too.

Amy,
Keep it simple, One of each. We all deserve a liite treat once and a while. Doing the jar thing you throw change or what ever you have into it. You don't notice it but it grows without taking from family expenses. The only problem is when it's time to cash in your treasure. There's always way to many goodies out there to decide what to use it on. Good Luck.

My son gave up watching TV for lent this past Easter. I'm amazed at how much better his guitar playing got.

Re: What is the source of the Martin D18 mystique?

On jars and change.  I've bought a canoe, a raft, and several kayaks that way.  I'm now saving for either an A/E guitar with nylon strings or an A/E bass.  But will likely wind up with more boats.

Did one of your boats fall on your head Zurf? tongue Boat before guitar, I think your priorities are a little out of whack. Put a label on the jar that says "GUITAR FUND".

Keep Rockin!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: What is the source of the Martin D18 mystique?

I always have the coin jar handy.  I don't spend change any more and it adds up pretty fast that way.  I have over $200 in it now.

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

Without the TV.  Every dollar I've spent on a television was because the lady in my life "needed" one.   Sports I simply quit watching, too, and followed in the paper or listened on the radio (baseball is better this way.)  Giving up the one or two things I did watch for the hours and hours of time I suddenly had available was well worth the trade.

I have one in the house now, but I don't watch it, except for DVDs and Netflix with the kids.

Movie night!

Re: What is the source of the Martin D18 mystique?

I watch two sports events per year. 1. The Georgia versus Georgia Tech football game (I'm a Tech fan.) and 2. The Superbowl (only for conversation purposes). I generally don't even know whose playing until the kick-off. No, I don't live under a rock. I just prioritize sports viewing very low. There are so many other things more rewarding to me.
