Unfortunately no. I've seen some guitar tab with strum patterns indicating when to make up and down strums or palm muting but I've never found them very helpful.
The only way to pick up a strum pattern for a tune is to listen to it a few times. Then relax and try and feel the music and the beat. Start off slow and let your arm and hand do what feels natural and it will come of its own accord. With a complex tune, break it down into sections. I know it doesn't sound very technical but the more you do it the easier it gets.
I also don't think it helps to be too slavish to the original. Add your own embelishments or, if you're struggling, simplify.
Hi cabb_x,I agree with the above post if you try the strumm patterns it will drive you nuts.
im a beginner myself, only a few months ago i was asking the same question, now i can play aprox 10 to 15 easy songs, all you can really do is listen to the beat and play, at first it wont souund good but soon enough you'll notice improvement,
Hi cabb, and welcome to Chrodie!!! If you go to the Chordie acoustic forum you'll see a green sticky note that will take you to some videos for several strumming patterns. By no way all but at least a few to get started on
I would suggest using your fretting hand to mute the strings. That way your not focusing on what chords to play. Then listen to the song and strum along with the beat. After a while it will become second nature. It will drive you nuts if you try to make every strum match the artist you are emulating.
hey this is cabb__x but i had to make a new account cheers for all ya help it really worked
