The service went very well and it was more of a celebration of life. My brother in law did a Eulogy for his father and it was nice. I followed with "In the Garden" I did a fingerpicking version and I thought it turned out really nice. My wife asked me to do it so I tried my best for her. I didn't have alot of notice but I practiced it over and over and I made it through without a bobble.

This was the first funeral I have played and even though I wasn't nervous it is hard not to have a lump in your throat when you have been sitting with folks that are crying. The funeral director asked me to say a few words before I played so I walked up front sat down with my amp and mic in front of the Catholic Church plugged in my guitar and told the crowd I was gonna do a quick tune up cause I needed all the help I could get from my J-45. I then assured my sister in law that my song choice would have no mention of "Trains, Mama, Prison or Gettin Drunk" she still thinks I'm a bad boy and may not do the right thing at times and probably rightfully so. I dedicated it to Lizzies , Father and it was one of his favorites.

The song went well and even my Mother liked it and she hates my music. She overheard a couple ladies behind her say  that was a most beautiful version of the song. Lots of kids and friends there so it was a very good day.

Aw, that made me tear up.   I have a similar thing coming up for a friend's mom's memorial and it was a result of playing in her bedroom 4 days before she passed.  She asked if we would do her a favor.   Of course, we said yes.  Well, she asked if we would do a celebration of her life when the weather broke and we all agreed we would.  She requested no observance otherwise.   So now I'm practicing more vigilantly for a few requested songs.
