Topic: Snark Tuner

So, the hubster and I were out guitar shopping (yes, HE got a new one for us to play with but that will be a different post!) and we came across a really NEAT little tuner made by Snark.  The display is BRILLIANT which is pretty awesome, it clips right onto the guitar - also awesome, and works by vibration which is kinda awesome.  I do think the vibration makes for a much better reading, however my guitar vibrates when he's playing his at the same time and I'll get a read out even if I'm not plucking any strings so I'm not positive how perfect it is for using in a crowded location BUT... it's gotta be better than nothing when using an unplugged acoustic!  Pretty neat!  BONUS... we paid less than Snark's suggested $29... I think we only paid $21 for it!  smile

Got one - love it! If you are patient, you can find them on Amazon for $10 or $12 w/ free shipping at times. Great little tuners.

I have been using one about a week now and so far so good. Seems I can't find a brand that lasts very long.

Amy most of the time when in a group I move a little away and tune up . They are sensitive when others are pickin.

Looks like a cool little tuner I will keep that in mind if my old one ( 1982 seiko ) ever gives up the ghost.

Must say, it makes guitar tuning actually fun it's so darn cute and colorful!  smile My husband has been using it to practice learning the notes on the fretbord.  Glad to hear some of you have one too and like it as well!  Apparently they make a few different kinds.  There's one that's a few bucks more which you can choose to have it take vibration readings or mic readings as well as plug a guitar into it.

I have a red one. Love it. They make two models: one "listens" and the other can "listen" or "feel".  These are easier to see for "mature" eyes. And mine has a visual metronome built in.

I play for a classic country/rock band and use one of these regularly. I'll keep one clipped to the headstock and leave it there for quick tune checks between songs or sets. The red one seems to work best if you're playing with others especially in a crowded bar. It has a Mic/Vib switch on the side.
I'll just roll the volume knob down and run through the strings.. mine never picks up anyone else's instrument when tuning up even if they're playing loud.

Good to see so many folks like it.  I had a clip-on tuner of a different brand that I threw away.  I threw the tuner away.  The brand wasn't mine.  I'll keep an eye out for this one.  I use a chromatic tuner with a mic, but that's a pain to use when anyone else is within a 1/2 mile radius if they make any sort of noise whatsoever.

This I-Man has used the 'Snark' for about three months now and I will NEVER go back to using any other tuner! It is simple, colorful and easy to use and a great conversation starter! You can tell women that they are 'Love' sensors! When I'm done, I pass it on to my bass playing brother (we're in the same band) and he passes it on to the lead guitarist! Hell, even our percussionist has used it to tune his congas! I highly recommend 'Snark' for it's portability, simplicity and cool look! Jah Watches!

Glad to hear all the good reviews here.  I ordered two last week from Amazon for 16.00 each.  The red ones.  I got one for a neighbor since they were so cheap.  I should be getting them today.

OK, I got my Snark this afternoon, read the brief instructions, installed the battery, clipped it to my headstock and tuned my guitar in less than a minute.  It usually takes me several minutes of back and forth adjusting of each tuner peg to finally get my guitar tuned with every other method I've tried.  This thing is amazing.  I highly recommend it.

Me too!  Good news, he's been caught by the mods and banned (look under his name.  YAY!) ... and I'm sure his post will be removed as soon as the mod of this section gets back on.  In the mean time... maybe someone should spam his email inbox LOL! (nah... it's probably a fake address listed).  Thanks to everyone who reported all this crud they found, most is now gone.  YAY CHORDIE MEMBERS!

OK... now... about that tuner... used it again today... so quick and easy.  LOVE IT!
