The intro starts out E,D,A and G. He is playing power chords in E,D and the occasional G as he sings.

Just play eighth note rhythm 1+2+3+4+ EEDDEEAG. Play different variations of that along with the U-Tube recording about 100 times and you will fall into what they are doing.
Cool song, have fun with it.
