Topic: Progress

I mentioned a while ago that I was going to lose some weight, and that I needed to buy a scale.  Well, I still haven't bought a scale.  However, despite the wide load images in Detman101's videos of our jam session, I must be making some progress.  The plan has been five meals a day the way the gastroenterologist told me to do, each of the meals rather small.  Like, a pear.  That would be one of the meals.  Some are larger.  Anyway, I've also been allowing myself one treat per day, but only on days that I exercise.  This has allowed me some treats and also encouraged discipline in exercise.

Today I moved in a notch on my belt.  I am very happy about being able to do this despite it being the eating season.

way to go Zurf!! I think scales only make people get fatter only because they are frustrated when they see no change in there weight or even gain weight when there following there diet and wind up eating "comfort" food to sooth there feelings the best way to judge is how your clothes fit stick to what your doing its working good luck smile

Re: Progress

Zurf, you have found what I think to be the best way to lose weight.  I have been eating this way for years, not because I want to, but because that's just the way I do it for some reason.  I very seldom sit down and eat a huge meal.  I do eat all I want and everything I want.  Small amounts of any foods several times a day is how I do it. Any other diet just does not work.  Your stomach shrinks and you almost never get hungry.  Its a lot to do with metabolism too, but I am convinced that this is a great idea.  Good luck.

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

Good job Zurf !!! As for myself, I continue to be a "nutritional over-achiever".

I want to read my own water, choose my own path, write my own songs

Re: Progress

Way to go Zurf!!! Portion size and being active are key. Maybe some new clothes will be under the tree for Christmas.

I heard on the news this morning about a new weight loss gimmick. Pregnant women's urine. The hormones are taken out somehow and you get injected by a doctor. With it you must stay on a diet of 500 calories a day. This is why I think the urine is nonsense. If you only eat 500 calories worth of food per day, you're gonna lose weight.

Re: Progress

Thats good zurf,I agree one hundred percent with pete,I also only eat small meals seveal times a day and it will keep your stomach small.it also helps if you can drink alot of non caloric drinks about eight aday, it washes out fats.Rule of thumb is your meal should be no larger then a closed fist. If you sit down and eat a large meal it will make you tired or sleepy as it requires alot of oxygen to digest it.

Re: Progress

Way to go!! Let me tell you what I do. I broke my neck years ago and I found out that when my weight went over 190 lbs, at 6'4", I had  horrible back problems. I eat one decent meal a day and two small snacks. It works for me. Again WAY to go!!

Re: Progress

My wife and I are both doing this together.  Neither of us is tracking weight.  She's doing a lot better on trimming down quickly.  However, I seem to be getting the most strength benefit.  About what would be expected given our respective sexes.

Today we added a Total Gym for strength training.  I was able to get it free from the bonus points catalog at work, which is nice.  Well, or so I thought until using it this morning.  Now I know why they got Chuck Norris as the spokesperson.

Re: Progress

Proud of you two for doing something that I have needed to do for a long time; losing weight.  I never seem to be able to "get started" or to be able to "maintain" any type of routine.  Hats off to you guys for what you are doing.  I hope you keep it up.
