Re: Golden Dreams

hi russ,

that's the trouble with us older guys, we can remember something that happened years ago better than something that happened yesterday!

this is a lovely song the words are so full of love and caring and (may i say) sung sweetly?
ARE YOU GETTIN` SOFT OR WHAT?

get well soon, i'm so looking forward to helping out with this song, it doesnt need a whole lot of overdubs. we'll keep it pure

dont let those nurses give you any nonsense...lol

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Golden Dreams

Phill I have my moments I still like to rock and play screaming leads but there's a side of me that smiles when I hear children laughing so I cant say I'm getting soft just pliable lol thanks for listening and when I finish with all this hospital stuff I will record the beds for the song and you can add some nice keys and harmony but I will be adding a slide steel guitar for the lead to keep it country and simple so i dont lose the feeling chat later this week my friend smile

"Growing old is not for sissies"

Re: Golden Dreams

just to update on the recording progress I laid 2 nice acoustic guitar tracks and added a simple bass line the results sound promising so I will add the slide and lead vocal tomorrow and send it to you Phill for the keyboards and vocal harmony(if needed) and then as a finishing touch I will put in a lonesome harmonica part and mix it back a bit so it wont distract from the simplicity of the song smile

Re: Golden Dreams

I uploaded the simple recording of this song to myspace and I would like some feedback regarding the need to add more (keys.slide guitar vocals) I honestly like it as it is  but opinions would be helpful in making the final decision please give a listen smile

Re: Golden Dreams

Hi Russ
I must say I like the simplicity of this song the lonesome sounding harmonica gives it a Western feel. I would be hard put to say more instrument tracks need adding just maybe backing vocals on the chours. I don't Know if you and Phill are cooking up something different if you are then I'm sure it will be good.

Re: Golden Dreams

Thanks Ark I feel there is always the option of adding nothing is writen is stone especially when it comes to a song I am planning on sending phill a copy and see what he comes up with I know whatever it is it will be nice smile

Re: Golden Dreams

Phill added some really nice backing to this song I was pleasently surprised I gave him a greenlight on putting whatever he felt sounded right and after listening I'm very pleased with his ideas thanks Phill smile this is the song with his additional vocals and some nice instrumental fills. http://www.myspace.com/phillwilliamswel … s-77120966

Re: Golden Dreams

hi russ and members,

i just had a little listen on my lap top speakers, and the backing vocals sound awful! in my defense though, i do have a sore throat.

this is my favourite song, russ's voice suits it down to the ground, and as mentioned, the harmonica really works. it takes me way back to my mother who used to sing lullabyes to all the kids, and to me, which is most likely why i love singing...i just wish i could!
