Topic: New acoustic player

I have started playing acoustic guitar a few months ago and have picked up major and minor chords and now having a go at barre chords, my problem is I tend to try playing all types of songs and at times struggle, should I stick to just a few songs until I feel I have mastered them any advice would be helpful.

Welcome charsue.  Everyone does it differently.  There is no right way or wrong way, but, I would say, just starting out to pick a small handful of songs and practice them.  As you get better with them, add another song or two.  You don't have to completely learn a song before you move on to others.  Good luck and come back from time to time and let us know how you are doing.

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

Welcome Chas!!!  Glad to hear that you've picked up the guitar.

I've only been playing for just over 2 years and I still take it slow. I only work on 3 songs at a time until I get them down pat. As you progress you can go back and add stuff to the ones you already know. Whats that rule, don't bite off more than you can chew. Just make sure everything you learn, you learn well. Don't move on until you are good at what you are working on.

Good luck!!
