Topic: acoustic guitar

new  member i am  60  years  old  been playing  guitar  10   years  i  have  started  to  learn  fingerpicking but i have  a  problem  keeping  the  base  run  going  while i  pick  the  other  notes  with  my  fingers any  help  would  be  most  welcome

Welcome to Chordie Donzo!!!!!

I myself do very little fingerpicking. But my advice is that bass note has to be automatic. I'm assuming you're picking the bass with your thumb. Just like when you were starting out strumming and singing. The strum had to be second nature before attempting to sing. Same thing, your thumb just has to do it on it's own so you can concentrate on your other fingers. Just keep at it and you will get it.

Hello donzo, welcome to Chordie, if you go to the top of the acoustic forum you'll see a green sticky for strumming patterns, including finger picking. Enjoy!!   I finger pick alot and it is all about practice, practice!!
