Topic: The MOST INFLUENTIAL BANDS PER DECADE
THERE IS A SECOND TOPIC I never saw here, and so related with this thread.
You see often some lists, but they are so narrow minded, like THE 2 MOST INFLUENTIAL BANDS/DECADE.
I believe we will have a much more accurate response if you name the 5 most influential bands.
Take the 7ties: PINK FLOYD LED ZEPPELIN, where are the SEX PISTOLS, DEEP PURPLE?
Also it all started a few hundreds years ago:
- MOZART
- BEETHOVEN
- BRAHMS
- And most important BACH see PROCOL HARUM and other "psychedelic bands" using the classics
1950 - 1960
- Bill Haley & Comets
- Elvis Presley
- Jerry Lee Louis (I was told in the sun studio in Memphis that Jerry would have been BIGGER than Elvis, but he destroyed his career with his personal life, like to marry his 13 year old niece)
developed his own style mixing rhythm and blues, boogie-woogie, gospel, and country music, as well as ideas from established "country boogie" pianists.
- Buddy Holly
- Chuck Berry
1960-1970 A crazy decade, probably the best ever. BOB DYLAN!!!!
- The Animals
- The Beatles
- The Rolling Stones
- Cream
- Beach Boys
- Jimi Hendrix and many others. BUT THE "FOUNDING FATHERS" ARE John Mayall, Alexis Korner.
1970-1980
- Still THE ROLLING STONES.
- The Eagles
- Led Zeppelin
- Deep Purple
- Pink Floyd
- SEX PISTOLS
- DISCO: Bee Gees, Gloria Gaynor.
1980-1990
- Kraftwerk
- A few New Wave bands, BLONDIE, CARS, DURAN DURAN
- METALLICA
- AC/DC
- VAN HALEN
1990-2000
- NIRVANA
- PIXIES
- GUNS 'N ROSES (+ Metallica again)
- RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE
- RADIOHEAD
2000 - ?
- COLDPLAY
- R&B bands
THERE are so many more artists, so make your list. Just think, and write them here
- MY GUITAR PLAYS EVERY STYLE = BLUES, ROCK, METAL, so I NEED TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY IT.
