Topic: Country Strum

Hey All,
I`m looking for a couple of good strum patterns for country songs
ie: Randy Travis, Hank Sr. and the like. Any posts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Country Strum

Alot of country is mostly down strums with an alternating bass line, G chord strum 6 string then the chord next strum the 5th string just alternate.C chord is a little trickier the way alot of country players do it strum the 5 string first and the chord and then move your ring finger up to the 6th string G note and strum the chord and alternate back and forth. For the d chord strum the fourth string open  and the chord and then strum the 5th string open A  and D chord. When you get that down you can add some walkups and walkdowns.Russell had a vid that explained them very well.

Re: Country Strum

A good strum pattern for most songs in 4/4 time is: (D=down, U=up)

D...D...U...D...U...D...U...D
1...2...&...3....&...4...&...1

Re: Country Strum

Bass note, down, down, up, alternate bass note, down, down, up

Or bass note, down, alternate bass note, down, bass note, down, alternate bass note, down, ad infinitum.  Throw a few ups in there for effect.

Or bass note, down, up, altnerate bass note, down, bass note, down, up, alternate bass note, down
