Topic: copying and pasteing issue HELP!

hey all,

if i copy a chordie file [ a songsheet ] and then paste it into 'Word or notepad'. all the chords drop into the lyrics..[instead of staying above where i want them ]

how can i stop this? anyone any ideas? or even know.

Re: copying and pasteing issue HELP!

hello orchard12 - you are not actually doing anything wrong - chordie uses programming voodoo to convert the "chords inside the lyrics" format into the pretty page layouts (chords above the lyrics) that you view.  The 'chords inside' file format you are referring to is called chordpro format and it is one effective way to embed the chords within the lyrics of a song.

If all you want to do is simply print a song that you have found on chordie,  then just hit the 'print song' button that is off to the righthand side of the screen when you are viewing the song.  It will print out very nicely with the chords properly positioned.  There is no need to copy & paste the song into a text editor or word processor in order to print.

If you want to edit a song (correct or change words & chords) the best way to accomplish that task is to open the song using the 'edit' key that is to the right of the song's  title in your songbook.

Hope this helps . . .

Re: copying and pasteing issue HELP!

thanks for your comments, and i understand that. however, i dont wish to edit or print,

what i,m actually doing is creating a 'slideshow' with the words and chords, hence i,m copying and pasting.

so if theres a way of pasting into word for example while everything stays put, this would be good.

Re: copying and pasteing issue HELP!

To my knowledge there isn't, but this is more an issue of how css/html works, than how Chordie works. Is it possible to solve your problem using screenshots?

You can take a screenshot by pressing ctrl-PrtScr, and paste it into Word by ctrl-v.
