Topic: FENDER TELECASTER

I wonder if I am alone. I own a FENDER REISSUE 1952 CALIFORNIA BEACH. This guitar was produced in very limited quantity and has the same"fashion" color cars had in 1952.
A pale-green color.
I adore that guitar but I almost never play it.
REASON: THE NECK IS TOO THICK.
Are all telecaster necks that thick or not. For me it's difficult to say.
Who has the same experience with TELE necks?

Re: FENDER TELECASTER

I have a 94 American Fender Telecaster that has the standard neck...it's very well balanced and comfortable for me. Also have a G&L ASAT Classic telecaster that has a thick chunky neck. Love em both. Actually I like the thick neck but then I've got big hands!

Middleaged Redneck sorta guy who refuses to grow up...passion for music, especially Southern Rock but like bout everything cept Gangsta/Hip Hop. Collect guitars, mandolins, and love to ride Harleys.

Re: FENDER TELECASTER

I would actually prefer a thick neck. A thick...wide neck.
My silverburst LP has a thin little neck and my hands get cramped when playing open chords in the first four frets.

Re: FENDER TELECASTER

I own 3 tele's and a G&L ASAT Bluesboy. Lots of folks like the "chunky" neck, myself included.

One of my teles is a very nice Korean made with two humbuckers that are coil tapped.  It also has a set neck, so it's really more a "Tele-Paul".  It has a much thinner neck and a little flatter fretboard.  You should try one and see if that's the neck for you.

Also . . . I believe you can special order G&L ASAT's with different neck profiles, I'm not sure about the tele's unless you go with a custom shop special order.

And a new development....

Barre chords are HELL on my silverburst LP!!!!

I tried a Fender Eric Johnson model with the thick neck and wide fretboard and it was like putting on a pair of correctly fitted shoes!

I'm selling the LP as soon as I figure out what guitar I'm going to buy.
The thicker neck is where I need to be if I'm going to play lead guitar and not just single note runs as an accompaniment.
