Yes - He played with the Mahavishnu Orchestra (John MacLaughlin) and has done lots of other stuff - he also wrote the Miami Vice theme music.

He's a keyboardist/percussionist who has played with Jeff Beck and many others. He's a freakin' freak on the keys. He wrote the lovely instrumental song "Blue W

ind" from Jeff Beck's "Wired".
