Topic: Old Doll !

Old Doll, I saw this YouTube clip and immediately thought of you. I think it is very cool how a part of your culture (and the Scotts) have settled here in the Appalachians and you can see and hear the influence still to this day. I'm "goin' up the country"  tomorrow with my bride for a quick overnight vacation. I'll be in the hot tub serenading her by midnight I'm sure. wink

(How cool is that song - Goin' Up Country - Canned Heat covering an old Blues tune) I gotta learn that one.

Thank You topdown",

I hope you had a great night away with your Segosha!

Im knackered  { very tired }myself after 4 days of a family celebration.  3  weeks to recover untill the next one.

Loved " Goin up the country" Ahh, The  Memories.

I have to say i loved the blues one even more.

I have used the word " Banjaxed "  meaning { Broken beyond repair } Here on the forun and had to explain what it meant.

I must admit i love the Dublin Slang.

Old Doll.

Why Blend in with the Crowd ? When you were made to stand out !

Re: Old Doll !

i dont think it is all dublin slang.
Lots of the words she mentioned do not even come from ireland. But I did stick up for her. She didnt claim they were from dublin but they are used in dublin.

I liked it anyway. a nice unrehearsed natural video of a burd explaining to people what her dublin folk mean when they say things that might not get used elsewhere in the world.

right, im aff tae my scratcher now    ( off to bed now)
