Topic: Chords vs Tabs

Hi,

I've recently picked up guitar again and I've been having a great time getting guitar chords for songs off this site and having a play with them.

This may sound silly and incredibly amateur (not that i'm denying the latter) but I really can't work with tabs. I know how to read them and how to follow them, but i really don't enjoy using them. I much prefer the straightforward guitar chord layout. I know i'd get used to Tabs if i kept using them and practicing etc etc, but im more interested in just mucking around with chords. So my question is...does anyone know a site (or a way to search this one) where there are just guitar chords as opposed to tabs? i know this site has both, but 80% of the time when i search for a song, its in tab. I know that's life, and that's what the majority search for, so thats why im asking. does anyone know of a site? or someway i can be garenteed a chord layout?

Thanks <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile">

Re: Chords vs Tabs

Alex,

Hi,

I think you have been unlucky. I find that the majority of songs here are  in "chord form" rather than tab.

I prefer the chords too instead of tab, some like tabs, some dont, some dont care, lol

When I look for a song I try to avoid any saying "text only "

this is usually or always in tab form.

It might be the sort of music you like?

I find that lots of "THE WHO" and AC/DC" songs are in tab form. I would love all these to be in "chord form" but thats life.

Since chordie is a search engine for tabs I hope someone does find a site that has these bands with just chords and links it with choride, but I have looked and looked several times for more chords but have failed.

Re: Chords vs Tabs

Here are some chords-only sites that I have found.  They don't list as many songs or have all the neato-keano functions like Chordie, but they are good sites for finding songs.

Like Chordie, each of these sites is a labor of love created by an individual who enjoys sharing the fun of music.  I would like to see more links listed in this thread if people have other sites they could recommend.

Re: Chords vs Tabs

Alex,

Have you tried the "filter"-function? This shows only formatted songs with chords, and is basically making Chordie i chord-only-site.

Re: Chords vs Tabs

Look at pages like this one: <a href="http://www.chordie.com/browseartist.php/b.php" target="_blank">http://www.chordie.com/browseartist.php/b.php</a>

In the right corner you will see: "Showing all songs: change". Click it.
