Topic: OPINION ABOUT VARIAX

About 3 years ago, there was a big "storm" in Guitar world.
- ONE single guitar, having a lot of guitars, different brands on board.
- It was a hype, and even better, they played smooth, easy, and yes you could hear the different guitars.
I had a 700 model, in fact stupid because you have the same features on a 300. For me it was the neck, I don't like to play on guitars having this kind of neck. My Telecaster, far the best guitar I heard, is played compared to PRS, very little.(BECAUSE OF THE NECK) OK I'm a PRS addict, since 11 years, I had one and only a few professional or semi-professional guitar players knew PRS

What or how is the Variax Line6 today?
- popularity?
- used to perform?
- still a hype?
- A disappointing guitar?

- MY GUITAR PLAYS EVERY STYLE = BLUES, ROCK, METAL, so I NEED TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY IT.

Everythings seems to be working fine here. Luckily I have no need for the stuff.............

Give everything but up.

Re: OPINION ABOUT VARIAX

Line 6 are still going and there's even a British Luthier, Chris George, who has taken to remanufacturing Variaxes with superior bodies, necks etc.

I love the idea of multiple guitar sounds but never quite trusted all that digital circuitry tucked inside a guitar. For me the beauty of an electric is in the simple, bombproof wiring. Having said this my bass is active so maybe I'm on a slow slide into onboard tech!

Re: OPINION ABOUT VARIAX

I've got a 700 Acoustic. Nice enough guitar but I don't play it much preferring to play my Taylor or Yamaha Acoustic 6 strings or my 12 string.
I initially bought the Variax for it's 12 string emulation which is very good but since then I've bought a Tanglewood 12 string which I find just as east to play.
The neck isn't bad but a little bit thicker than my other acoustics.
I haven't tried the electric Variax but I shouldn't imagine they'd be anywhere as good as a Les Paul, Telecaster or Strat for feel if the acoustic version is anything to go by.
I've also got a Line 6 Spider III amp which is awesome for it's size, 75W, and it's price, under £200.
