Topic: GMAJ7

I am normally a placid kind of guy - but - i get angry trying to play certain chords - GMAJ7  really does my head in . do people really play these chords ? you know the ones i mean ?  the ones where you need 8 fingers on a hand 4 times bigger than a normal hand ? . just a bit of a fool item really - but would be interested to know if its just me that gets frustrated a bit with certain impossible chords. ( read the whole item as a bit tongue in cheek)

any resemblance to my songs sounding anything like the original is highly unlikely.

Re: GMAJ7

Hi evsynator,

Seeing as the last song I wrote, recorded and posted on Chordie used a Gmaj7 and sus chords I will asume that this is directed at me and get all hurt, upset and go and spit my dummy out!! lol joking!!

Seriously Gmaj7 is not that difficult to play although the first one listed in the chord chart (xx2345) is difficult click on the chord and you will be shown the alternatives. I use 220002 which I find the easiest but there is also 220032 and 220033.

There are times when you you need to use the maj7, sus and dim chords to get the sound that you are looking for. I tend to look on it as a challenge to learn a new chord.

Take care,

Roger

Re: GMAJ7

thanks roger - i didnt realise there was a way to get alternatives like that . that will definately come in usefull . there arent to many i struggle with but a few i really do . and while i am at it - is there a place on the net we can actually hear some of the stuff you guys write ? though i have played for a few years ( to many - and still rubbish , but its fun) i have never wrote anything . but its always good to hear others who do - rather than just play and sing other artists stuff etc .

any resemblance to my songs sounding anything like the original is highly unlikely.

Re: GMAJ7

Hi Evsynator,

Many of the regular contributors to the Songwriting section have MySpace and/or YouTube sites for their music and clicking on the 'Website' to left of the messgae will take you there.

If you click on mine however it will take you to 'Friends of Chordie' a MySpace that I run exclusively for Chordie members who have no site to use or want to put a song there for any reason. I do have my own MySpace and YouTube sites and I will list them below and hope that James, Jeff, Ken and everyone else will add theirs too.
