Topic: Changing strings--adjusting truss bar

Hey gang.  Fairly new guy here.  Getting ready to change strings on my Washburn D10-S and have a quick question.

I have chaged the strings one other time, and went from a relatively heavy set of strings to a medium set.  They were easier to play, but I noticed if I strummed with moderate to heavy force, the lighter strings seemed to buzz easier.  Asked the guy at the music store about it and he said to adjust the truss rod.  Found the adjustment key (allen wrench type thing in the base of the neck--in sound hole), but forgot which way and how much to adjust it.

Can anyone give me some pointers in this area.  I am switching to DR light strings.  Trying to find the best kind of strings for me.

Thanks!

Bill

Re: Changing strings--adjusting truss bar

if you dont know what your doing best advice i can give is take it to the professionals. Besides the truss rod adjustment if for fix a bowed or humped neck. It should either be rattleing or muffled. not buzzing.  and it should only doit on certain frets. thats what what fixes by adjustiong the rod. also you might snap the rod and end up tweaking your neck too bad if you dont do it right. Let a professional fix it for is the best thing to do. i dont mean to isult your intelligence but just in case.... bow... neck tweaked forwar toward the sound hole  humped... neck tweaked back away from the sound hole. ANYWAY righty-tighty for the bow lefty loosy for hump. please figure out whats wrong before you atempt any adjustments oor you just might screw up worst. TAKE IT TO A PROFESSIONAL! good luck phxce
