Topic: A SONG ON MYSPACE & YOUTUBE

What is needed to perform a song like SUGAR, SUGAR by the ARCHIES on myspace or youtube?
I have that song on my list, playing it acoustic and I want to place it on these sites.
I record it and I place it on myspace. Will I have "legal" issues or problems? Do I need to pay an amount of money, or will they leave it like that?

This what myspace has to say about your question

"Warning - MySpace Music accounts are for MUSICIANS.  Uploading songs you do not own is a violation of the artist's copyrights and against the law.  If you upload songs you do not own, you account will be deleted."

Wether or not  you "Own" the cover you do of a previously recorded song I'm not sure but I think you probally do.

There are a huge amount of covers on Utube and they are not removed so a maybe it's ok.

Hi Doc, how the hell are you?

I don't have a youtube account myself but there are thousands of guys on there playing covers. Jeez, there are even guys on there showing you how to play songs. I don't think they would all be on there if you had to pay. And if there were legal problems surely youtube would just take them off.

Ach, just go for it!

Is anything really made up of zeros and ones??

I have songs on myspace...Worst case scenario is a deleted account...But that aint going to happen...especially if you are just playing acoustic....If you tried to put their actual song on there then you might need to get a lawyer...lol..
