Fretless acoustic

Ok, here is the Question.

I decided to defret one of my old acoustics as i wsa bored of my acoustics and I'm looking for tips on what gauge strings to use and any tips about how to go about getting the most from an acoustic that happens to be fretless. I've still to put fret markers on.
