Topic: Capo's

I am playing Mr. bojangles in the key of C and have all but mastered the strumming and chording but its not matching up with my singing range. is there anything i can do with a capo to help

Re: Capo's

Yes.  The cappo will change your effective key.  Put the cappo on the 2nd fret, and you're now in D using the exact same chord shapes.

Find a key that suits your voice, and have at 'er.

Someday we'll win this thing...

Re: Capo's

You could also transpose up or down a key
example
Present key of c using C,F,G chords
To play in key of d use D instead of C, G instead of F , and A instead of G , and any other chords bump up as well.
Doing this will prompt you to learn other chords

Re: Capo's

Originally it was played with the capo on the 2nd fret putting it in the key of D. You can move the capo up if you need however I'm guessing that the song is already too high for you rather than too low. If you change the key you may risk loosing the nice ascending   and descending bass line that the walks through the song. If you want to finger pick the song there is a good tab arrangement of the song for downloading on my site www.nofretguitarlessons.com.au I think the tabs also have the chords in them.
