Topic: anyone know breedlove

I saw my first breedlove guitar a few weeks ago. Since then I've stopped by my local guitar store and played a few. I can't believe the incredable sound and easy playabiliy of this guitar. How come I don't see there name up there with Tayler and Martin? They cost just as much. Please help, I'm feeling weak and might have to buy one.

Re: anyone know breedlove

Buy one!  They're awesome.  They haven't been around as long as Taylor and Martin.  Another great guitar on the scene is Blue Ridge.  Don't buy a Breedlove until you've played a Blue Ridge.  Then go get a third or fourth mortgage because you won't be able to choose between them!

Re: anyone know breedlove

I like them a lot.  I have a Breedlove Atlas series and (to me) it smoked the Martin's and Taylor's I played at Guitar Center.  Of course, guitars (maybe acoustics a little more than electrics) are the players' choice.  I love Martin and Taylor, also Takamine (I own two) and there are many more that are top-notch.  I was sold on Breedlove, when I played it, because of the action, the look and the sound.  The sound was amazing and the construction of the guitar is superb.  Even though mine is Korean-made, I love everything about it and have never regretted my decision to buy it.  Breedlove is a relatively new company in the guitar world and they have a lot of extremely good counterparts to stand beside and I think they are doing a fine job.  But don't listen to me, go check one out yourself, play them against a Martin, Taylor and even a Gibson...then you decide which one "sounds" the best.

Re: anyone know breedlove

I had a chance to try Breedloves a couple of months ago when i went to Guitar Center in New York (they don't exist in Canada where i live).

I began by trying the Pro and Performance Series and then tried a couple of models in the Atlas series. However, I should have probably started with the Atlas because I was immensely impressed with the Pro & Performance but very disappointed with the Atlas Series.

I compared the higher priced Breedloves (Focus & Fusion) to the Taylors (700s & 800s), Martins (D-28), and Gibsons (Dove, Hummingbird) and I have to say that not only did it stand up to them but it had a tone that was just as unique as the rest of them. You could say that the tone is a solid compromise between the warmth of the Martin and the brightness of the Taylors. Between the two Breedloves, the Fusion was definitely my favorite (Mahogany & Sitka Spruce). On top of that, the neck movement is extremely fluid and the design of the guitar is beautiful (love that cutaway):

Now the Atlas Series, I compared to my own acoustic as the ones that I tried were in the same price range (Breedlove AC25 SR & SM). My guitar is a Guild GAD-50E (from the new line after it switched to Fender), and since I've bought it, I've been constantly and pleasantly surprised as to how it stands up to acoustics in the same price range or even the more expensive ones. It has a warm, deep tone and amazing volume (it's a big guitar), and when you play, it feels like the music is inside you. Now the Atlases I've tried didn't give me the same feeling and I found the tone rather dull compared to mine. They just didn't have enough bass for my liking, and the necks felt a bit awkward.

Having said all this, I think that the best way is to give them a go yourself, but I highly recommend that while you try the Breedloves, have another few solid guitars in the same quality/price range that you can compare them to. When I bought my Guild, I was initially going for entry-level Taylors or Martins, but decided to try the Guild on a whim and ended up walking out of the store with it big_smile ... In short, go with the sound AND your gut.

Good luck

Thanks for all your input. I love the guitar and will keep shoping to make sure i make the right purchase.

Re: anyone know breedlove

Yep, I own a Breedlove Atlas AJ250/SF-12 and think it is the best sounding guitar I could afford (about $1000).  They are just solid as a rock and have the JLD Bridge Truss system.  My next 6 string will be a Breedlove
