Topic: Girls From Texas - Re do ! :)

I just wasn't happy the way the original lyric sort of just didn't finish, so I added a verse and kind of melded them together to finish it off.

I also changed the arrangement to a rocking little country blues song in the key of  E

I think it plays easier( alot more fun for me to play it)  and makes more sense to me  this way.

I am hoping this afternoon or tomorrow to be able to record a copy and torture your ears! smile

It's pretty much as Phill noted on the original - one of those songs to be sung in a Texas bar.  smile

Thanks for taking a look.

Girls from Texas By Jim Kenyon

Verse 1

.

[E]Met me a woman down in San Antone

[E] skin soft as satin but a heart of stone

with [A] fire in her eyes, whiskey on her lips

I could [E]feel the heat a comin’ off her finger tips

[B7] She wore a cowboy hat and tight blue jeans

[A] caught my attention if you [E]know what I mean

,

Verse 2

.

Well [E] we danced all night to every song

[E]I went to get a beer, she said “don’t be long”

[A]Then she took my horse, my boots, and gun

And said [E]hey cowboy “let’s have some fun”

[B7]she rode my stallion all through the night

[A]out where the stars are [E]big and bright

.

Chorus

.

[A]Mama said watch out for those naughty girls

the [E]ones with big smiles and hair full of curls

the [A]ones that are wild, and a little bit reckless

yeah,[B7]Mama said stay a[A]way from those girls from [E] Texas

yeah [B7]Mama said stay a[A]way from those girls from [E] Texas

.

Verse 3

.

[E]woke up next morning at the break of dawn

[E]lipstick on my collar, but she was gone

[A]a note on the table said we'll meet again

but I [E]don't where and she didn't say when

[B7] it was one of them nights that I can't explain

but that [A] girl from Texas just [E]drives me insane

.

and I[B7] just can't wait til we [A]meet [E] again

.

Chorus

.

[A]Mama said watch out for those naughty girls

the [E]ones with big smiles and hair full of curls

the [A]ones that are wild, and a little bit reckless

yeah,[B7]Mama said stay a[A]way from those girls from [E] Texas

.

yeah [B7]Mama said stay a[A]way from those girls from [E] Texas

yea [B7]Mama said stay a[A]way from those girls from [E] Texas

.

slow

but the [B7]Lord knows, I [A] need that girl from [E]Texas

yeah, the [B7]Lord knows, I [A] need that girl from [E]Texas

Nice changes Jim, I'm looking forward to hearing it.

I want to read my own water, choose my own path, write my own songs
