well as long as we are on the Country Texas theme smile
and I figure since Mojo being from Texas, he might have known a few in his day  smile

I wrote this little song......

That's some darn good writing Jim.  The first two verses describe events but then the third one allows each listener to imagine  what happened next.  Its like looking at two still life paintings then at a piece of abstract art that is connected to the first two but allows the viewer (or listener in this case) several choices of what the last one portrays. (Did she steal his horse, boots and gun and then abandon him and ride away or did she remove them so she could ride a different "stallion")? wink 

Do you plan to record it? I'd like to hear your version.  You are  probably a lot like me, a self-taught guitar picker that just likes to write songs and doesn't feel like you are a "singer/performer", but I always like to hear a song straight from the craftsman that made it before it gets "dolled up" by others. Whenever I hear a song I like, the first thing I do is try to find out who wrote it and hopefully hear them play the "original" version and the vision of how they think the song should be performed.     

I want to read my own water, choose my own path, write my own songs

Jim love your song and the way Mojo has got everyone thinking about Texas. Easy Beat  has a song writing  muso mate  David who yesterday ended up in hospital after falling into some cactus. I was thinking maybe I should write a song called Texas Cactus Blues  about a cowboy whose horse throws him of into some cactus after a bad day out with his girlfriend one of those girls you wrote about with tight blue jeans.

Phill hit it right on the head - I wrote it thinking it would be a pretty good cowboy bar song.  smile

Thanks Brian - Texas is not an easy word to rhyme.
Peatle - thanks for the kind words - I believe that you have the makings for a very good song
as that title definitely would draw attention.  Hope you do it !

And I had to ride hard to keep up.

Brought out more of my naval instincts in me.

nice one Pete, made i laff. I thought my verse was risque...lol

my sea legs hadn't quite acclimatized
and the saddle was chaffing my thighs
i watched as she bounced in her saddle
all i could see were her gorgeous big eyes.

This needs a chorus too.

with ruby lips that I'd love to taste

I had just arrived back home in Texas.
After spending six months out at sea.
she was a little rough around the edges
but that just stoked a ship's fire  in me.

we got together at the local watering hole
to quench our thirsts with whiskey and beer
then she started dancing out of control
I thought " what the heck am I doing here ?
