Topic: MY "Auld Lang Syne"

My first time ever to hear the following song was at the end of the film "Waking Ned Devine". "Waking...." is one of my top 10 favorite movies, and if you've never seen it, I highly recommend it. The only superlative that fits - in my opinion - is ...... delightful.

Regarding "Auld Lang Syne"; I'm not critical of it - just saying that I find "The Parting Glass" to be personally more stirring and touching.

Re: MY "Auld Lang Syne"

we have a thing called "tinsel and turkey" which is basically a couple of nights at a hotel where they pretend it's Christmas and new years eve, starting in December, so as i've do several each year i've already sung old lang syne 4 or 5 times in the last month, so i'm sick of it and all those Christmas songs. i've never sen the film you mention, so i shall look it up. happy new year to you and Dondra xxx ( the kisses for Dondra not you)

Re: MY "Auld Lang Syne"

Happy New Year and Love to you and Dondra.

Re: MY "Auld Lang Syne"

"Good Night and joy be to you all....."

I found it difficult to swallow and keep the tears in when the crescendo of the drums and pipes began.

I hope you do get the opportunity to see the film, my friends, and let yourself become immersed in its story. Once you do, the song itself becomes even more special.

Happy New Year to all of you as well.

Same here, Bill ... there's something about a great pipe tune that really opens the tear ducts. Thanks for this!

Bill

That is a very nice song - first I had ever listened to it.
My family has roots from Scotland - so today I asked him if he ever herd of it - he says oh yeah - our grampa used to sing it all the time.
I never knew that.

Thanks for sharing
