Topic: SEPTEMBER 2018 FSOTM - A Love Song - A Lullaby

Ok, here we are in SEPTEMBER already! 

This month for FSOTM, we have Roger Guppy who`s name was drawn out of the Hat to choose TWO GENRES and a SONG to go with EACH GENRE.

Here are the Two Genre`s that Roger has chosen and the Song he chose to go with each Genre:

1.    A LOVE SONG:   Love Is All Around ( Troggs 1967; Wet Wet Wet 1994)
2.    A LULLABY:  Hush-A-Bye  (Peter, Paul and Mary 1963)

Roger your A Lullaby and the video was wonderful and showed  incredible work.. I am sorry I have not logged on until just now. The song and video was more than anyone can listen to and watch and not feel how you sung the song.

The dog is Bella, my epileptic baby, who has a bullet lodged in her brain and weakness on her left rear leg after an injury, plus signs of several other broken bones and leishmaniasis. Yes she is a rescue, found four years ago in a very sorry state and she has been with me for 3 years now.

The software I use for recording is Audacity and I record one track at a time running through a Behringer mixer. I do have an autochord but it is not used in either of these tracks but I am using a 12er for rhythm.

Roger, wonderful cover on songs!  You sounded great vocally and musically.  You did a fantastic job putting them all together with the sound effects, instruments and loved the pictures as they flicked on through with both songs.  What a gorgeous dog and very lucky and blessed to have found you to live with and care for her smile

Nice one neophytte and great to see you  had a mate join in with you for this one.   Mixes it up and makes it interesting to see others as well.  Do you 2 play together often?  I think there is a 3rd "wanna be" that wants to be in the video performance as well  hahaha ....... maybe get your son to join in next time with a shaker or something lol smile

Kevin and I used to work at the same place a few years ago - he organised a few other musicians who worked there for a jam night, someone told him I play guitar and I came along for a few jams ... we've played together a couple of other times, but not frequently ... this was the first and only take of the song smile

Thanks smile We've done it a few times since, but as it was made up as we were playing it, I often forget the lyrics ... guess I should write it down so we do it consistently ...

I am envious of you -those are special memories you are forging - can't ever be topped by buying any toy or video game.

Thanks - I was (pleasantly!) surprised by his good timing, however his first preference for instruments was the drums ...

We don't generally put our "home" movies online, but the other two I have are building a Strandbeest and building a Spacerails. There's also a jam we had on guitar and harmonica from a few years ago ...

Roger, I attempted the song~ Love Is All~  Around but just couldn't do it justice at all!  I tried quite to record it a few times and just didn't sound right so I gave up, don`t think it suited my voice even with transposing the chords.    The other song I don`t know so didn't do it.

Perhaps next time there are the top 3 from the hat - who can contribute in the genre picked by the first one pulled out of the hat; ie Roger wins and nominates the two categorys,  and two songs, then the next 2 pulled from the hat nominate a song in the two categories Roger nominated ... ?
