Topic: "CHORDIE?" NOT "TABBIE"

I DON'T KNOW THIS SITE USE TO HAVE THE CHORDS FOR SONGS BUT IT SEEMS TO ME EVERY SONG AND EVERY ARTIST I LOOK UP, ALL IT HAS IS "TABS"!! I'M 59 YEARS OLD AND DON'T PLAY "TABS" THIS SITE IS CALLED "CHORDIE" HOW DID IT GET SWAMPPED WITH TABS AND LOSE IT'S CHORD BASE? ONE EXAMPLE, LOOK UP JOHN PRINE "IN SPITE OF OURSELVES" A SIMPLE SONG PROBABLY WITH SIMPLE CHORDS I WAS HOPING TO FIND TODAY BUT NOPE ALL LINES AND NUMBERS THAT AREN'T "CHORDS" SO FROM NOW ON I CALL THIS SITE "TABBIE"  THERE USE TO BE AN OPTION TO LOOK UP SONGS WITH CHORDS OR TABS BUT NOT NOW....SAD!!!

"there's A Message In The Music"....always

Hey WVBIKER59

One of our knowledgeable mods or admins will be along in a bit to help you with this, but it is my understanding that Chordie itself is not at fault if you happen to see tabs instead of chords. This has happened to me as well and when it does, I just google the song along with the word "chords" and usually find it that way. Here's a link to what is also one of MY favorite John Prine tunes (you have good taste!).........https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/john_prine/in_spite_of_ourselves_chords_1872988

Have fun playing and singing it! smile

I have also seen Nashville Numbering on some songs too. On some songs if you look you will see chords, tabs, and Nashville Numbering all on the same song. As Bill said none of it is Chodie's fault. Sometimes the sites change what they list.

You didn't scroll down far enough. The chords are all there. Yep. A simple song. Looks it's in C. Just three chords; C, F, and G

Re: "CHORDIE?" NOT "TABBIE"

Hello WVBIKER ...

Chordie is a search engine that scans the web for Chords and Tabs for songs, and brings them all together in one place. If there are only Tabs for a particular song posted anywhere on the Internet, then that's all there will be available for Chordie to load.

When you open up a song, there's a window at the right with five stars across, which says something like "This is #3 of 5 versions". There's a drop down window just under those stars, which you can open to select from however many versions are available. Some are going to be Chords, some will be Tabs. The search engine finds them all, so that people who prefer either one should find a version they like. I'm 61, and sometimes use chords or tabs, depending on what I'm trying to learn.

I hope this helps you out!

I used to have a tabby named Chordy.   True story.
