Would YOU like to be the one to pick the song of the month for July? 

Then just enter your name in this thread for a chance to WIN your choice of song!
No need to pick the song yet! 
Simply reply to this thread with something interesting that indicates your desire! 
Examples: "PICK ME!  PICK ME!"
"I want to pick the song"
" Drop my name in the hat please!." 
*or whatever imaginable thing you can add that also includes something that makes it clear that you want a chance to choose the next FSOTM!   

But remember, NO need to pick the song yet! That will be chosen later in the month.

Everyone that posts in this thread indicating their desire to pick the FSOTM will have their name "placed in a hat" and TWO PEOPLE, yes TWO names will be randomly chosen.  If you are chosen, you then get to choose the song of the month!  The two winners will be chosen and their names posted in this thread towards the end of July.  The winners must submit ONE SONG EACH of their choice for the song of the month by the end of the Month.

So, what are you waiting for?  READY?  SET?  GO!

Just wondering if we could do a group song.
everyone sing one line eg` we are the world`/band aid. etc.
maybe `all you need is love` or `a little help from my friends`
i`m sure one of the clever guys could do a backing track & patch it all together?
would only be worth doing if we had a commitment from 6 plus chordians.

Those were excellent - thanks or sharing... that would be  a very cool project to pull off- and I have absolutely no idea on how to accomplish that... way above my pay grade ! smile  but it is a great idea.

it doesn`t really matter if you have entered your name before, as there have been a few people put their name in before and have been lucky enough to be choosen to pick a song more than once .... it really is just the luck of the draw on whose name comes out of the hat.  Makes it more interesting as well when there are more names to put in the hat smile

Hey easybeat,
great idea.  If you want to organise it, by all means go for it.  You would have to organise someone who can do the backing track, the song, the people who want to perform in it,  get the backing track to all the participants so they can record themselves singing to it and get them all to send their singing back to the person who you have organised to put it all together etc.  It could work, would be fun, but would take a bit of orgainsing which i haven`t got time to organise at the moment .... but if your happy to organise this idea of yours, go for it.  When it is ready to go, we could put it up as a FSOTM.   smile

Cool. Now that the names are chosen I can chime in.  I've had several of my selections chosen recently, so wanted to be sure someone else selected.

That said, I thought Russell had a means for sharing recording using multiple tracks for collaborating on-line (but not simultaneously). He could maybe help.

Please pick a song from ........ HARRY CHAPIN

I first heard his songs sung by the neighbor who was kind enough to gift to me her 12 string Ovation.  She sang Cats, and Taxi.  I wanted to chose Taxi, but its not an easy song for me to play, and then I thought of Sequel, which I can play pretty good, and of course there is CATS and the cover by Ugly Kid Joe.  Yet there are sooo many more great titles to choose from. 
So there you have it friends. knock yourself out!  I will try to learn a new one myself. big_smile

Beamer excellent choice. I had dinner with Harry Chaplin one night in East Stoudsburg Pa. after he performed at the college.  Superb lyricist - wrote from his heart for sure. His brother was cool too.

Taxi isn't that hard to play except for the bridge part - as a result - I generally just omit it

its been a long time, but just watched an old live show and tried to watch his hands, may take another crack at it.  while watching that show, i realize many of his songs are 5th fret capo, and OMG ill probably play them entirely different!
