Topic: Rondo 9-String Guitar
I haven't been on Rondo Music's site for a while, and came across this oddity. A person would need hands like an NBA forward to play barre chords on this, and it's a multi-scale (fan fret) to boot. Seems kind of nutsy:

That's a real oddity. From what I could make out from your picture, it has 2 high E strings and 2 B's! And seeing it has a whammy bar, I'm guessing it's meant for lead only. Nice looking though.

I think you're correct, Phill ... this is for lead guitar, and I expect the "shredders" would be the target customer. According to Rondo's site, it tunes as E - A - B - E - A - D - G - B - E, so it's standard 7-string tuning, with 2 bass strings. I like that it says "Weighs only 11 pounds". A standard Les Paul is 8 lbs, so this rig would be an armload.
I just found it to be an interesting curiosity.
And they you get the guys who will buy that, and drop it a whole step and play in drop C, Yeah, i have had 30+years trying to mast 6 or its 12 string variant. I can understand the 7 string, for stuff i mentioned above,, but this is just not me LOL. They do have one on there I really want, its sort of a Futura body. (this one http://www.rondomusic.com/ghpstpro727ebemgwf.html) (It sorta looks like a Dean ZX, but I have seen some others with that hook at the end but cant search out the type now) I would have to figure out the 7th string, but love that body style, (or just remove the string, Wouldn't be unheard of)
