You can't win them all. If they did football would become stagnant.

OK this is likely not the exact section to mention it in...... but did anyone notice that our Portland Timbers Major League Soccer team won the MLS Championship Cup this weekend?

Just bragging a little on the local gang!!  It ain't FIFA, but growing a good fan base here on this Continent.

Re: Football 2015-2016 season

Seahawks offense has come alive in the last couple of weeks.   They crushed Minnesota, and I'm going to guess that they are going to do the same to Baltimore coming up.  Baltimore has been decimated with injury, though.  I heard something like of their original 11 offensive starters, there are 3 left.  Everyone else is a backup.

Huskes going bowling!  Some minor bowl in Texas, but I don't' care.  smile

Good I do not like the rams or Arizona so I am pulling for the Seahawks to win our division. Guess your Huskies are doing good also.

Arizona beating Minnesota pretty much guaranteed them the division title.  The Seahawks question is if they are going to be the #1 or #2 wildcard.   #1 is better because then they would play the NFC East champ.  And the NFC East is a dumpster fire.

If they're the #2 wildcard, they are most likely on the road against Green Bay.  And I don't want that.

Well, in order for them to win the division, a whole lot of stuff has to happen, and while it isn't mathematically impossible, it's highly improbable.   Basically, Arizona has to lose out the rest of the season, and the 'Hawks have to win out.  That would make both teams 11-5.

The trick is that they are pretty much tied in every tiebreaker, so you have to go way down the stack to "strength of victory" before someone wins, and right now, that is Arizona, with wins over Cincinnati and New Orleans, where Seattle's is over Dallas and the Bears.   Basically, Dallas would have to go on a holy tear to improve their record enough to compete with Cincinnati, and, well, lets face it.  Matt Cassel just ain't that kind of guy.   :)

If they win out, the worst they could do is the #1 wild card, and even if they lose one, they would still be the #2.

But I don't want to go to Green Bay.  :D

I think the Seahawks will do good at any place at this point as they look determined.I do not like arizonia, A Green bay and Seahawks game would be a  great match up.

Re: Football 2015-2016 season

Well, the Seahawks clinched a playoff spot by beating a really bad Johny Failball lead team.  Arizona clinched the division, as expected.   The next two games are the ones that matter the most, being division games.  The Rams are on their usual "Lose to everyone except division opponents" track, so that is a dangerous game.  Then they finish at AZ.

If they beat the Rams and the Vikings lose, I think that clinches the #1 wildcard spot for them, making the Week 17 game against Arizona meaningless for both teams.  Which will be fun to watch.  Carson Palmer and Russel Wilson each take about five snaps, and then it will look like a preseason game.  big_smile

Re: Football 2015-2016 season

Packers kind of sleepwalked there way past the Raiders that offence better get up to speed soon cant keep depending on the defense to bail you out. I don't know what is going on with Lacy one minute he is like a train the next he cant get by the defensive line. The pack needs a good tight end and one more reliable receiver and a healthy offensive line please Santa smile

I'm a Cardinals fan this week, Russ.  They've got the division, so it doesn't hurt the Seahawks, but having them beat Green Bay absolutely helps the 'Hawks.  smile

I would be surprised if they played there starters why risk injury if you have it wrapped up that would be the smart move.

Jerome. I caught the "Sun Bowl" from snowy San Antonio Texas today!  What happened to the Cougars Man!!!???  did they NOT get the memo about traditionally blowing it in the 4th?   Or was it that cold white fluffy stuff falling out of the sky that confused the Miami Hurricanes?  Either way, it's good to see a bowl victory for them after all this time!

smile  If the 'Cougs Couged it every time, it wouldn't be Couging it, it would just be a bad football team.  Which it sometimes is.

And the Huskies won in Dallas, beating Southern Miss in a shoot out.

Overall, a pretty good weekend for College Football up here, and I am honestly stoked about next year.  Coach Pete is building a long term winner on Lake Washington.

Home field advantage throughout the playoffs goes to the #1 seed.  If you're the #2 seed, at some point you may have to travel.

Right now, with the Seahawks getting handled by the Rams, and Carolina getting beaten by the Julio Jones', the #1 seed is up for grabs should Carolina lose in week 17.  Which means the Cards are motivated to win, and the Seahawks are looking at a loooooong day in Arizona next week.
