Here's the joke with the premise included.

Traveling salesman's car has broken down, so he walks to a nearby farm, knocks on the door.....

Salesman: Hello, my car's broken down a few miles back, and since it is almost dark, I wonder if you'd put me up for the night?

Farmer; Well, sure, but you'll have to sleep with my son.

Salesman: Excuse me Farmer, but I think I'm in the wrong joke.
