Re: Matala Acoustic project

Grah, not sure how it's work as a portable pa system as it kinda looks like a whiskey still. As a
word of caution, though, go with a copper pot. The galvanized metal is poision for a still. My dad's family was moonshiners and as a point of fact - if you drink enough 'shine all music will sound good.

From the looks of the sound equipment you don't need power or a string of cables to make the system work.

Re: Matala Acoustic project

Know  what  you  mean Nela, its  coming  up  to  moonshine  time  here  in Crete Raki  brewing  starts  at  the  end  of  this  month .
I  suspect    the  reason Lou  has  made  this  system is  its  a  bit  of  a  protest  against  the authority's  stopping  the  use  of amplification  in bars unless they are  licenced and  the artists  are  all insured. I  didn't  think  The  west  of  the  island  had  been affected  but  it  looks  now if  they  too have  been .
Another  friend who  has  a  taverna in Sitia  where we live  recently had  his  place   closed   for  10 days and  received  a  heavy  fine .
Businesses  are  struggling  to  make  ends meet  with  out the government  driving  the  customers  away, Maybe  Lou  has  the  answer.

Re: Matala Acoustic project

The first thing I thought of was a still, but it I think it will help amp up the acoustics.

Re: Matala Acoustic project

I see a business opportunity here..... might be a good time to "corner the market" on resonator guitars!!

And a question:  Insurance???  What kind of liability can a band have that requires insurance?  Hearing loss, promotion of public drunkeness, electrical fire, amplifier collapse, insanity due to dischordant progression, loss of sleep, hangover, unintentional pregnancy,....... What??!!!

Re: Matala Acoustic project

when i saw the funnels first thing that came to mind was the temperance 7. any one else remember them? winchester cathedral?

it's funny how disco's (or whatever the modern equivalent is) can go on blasting boom boom music (?) till 5 or 6 in the morning, yet live music has to stop at midnight. give me a live band anytime amplified or not.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Matala Acoustic project
