I just found out that Tom Hanks dad was the lead singer of the Diamonds and still is too this day. they had a big hit with "Little Darlin" back in 1957. and also some other songs. I can't get it here from you tube. I know a lot of us remember it though.I was only 9 then. I do not know if he has passed away.
according to wikipedia tom hanks dad was never a member of the band so dont know if its true or not dino

Dave Sommerville is going to be really surprised to know that Tom Hanks is his son. And Tom Hanks is going to be really surprised to discover he's Canadian.
In summary, no one associated with the Diamonds is related to Tom Hanks. Hank's dad was a line cook. Dave Sommerville is a Kanuk, and still kicking.
I was told that it was his dad so I do not know all the facts,just what I read. They may have had more than one lead singer. If I am wrong someone told me the wrong facts,no big thing. whoops I just googled it and found out it was a viral urban legend.
