Topic: Come Sundays

This song needs a little explanation as it has several sources for the story, which is mostly factual.

Come Sunday.Undefined

[A] Running for the station, gotta make that early train.

I'll be home by Sunday if I make it to my plane.

I've [D] had enough of hotel rooms and drinking day and [A] night. (RIFF)

[A] I'm running down the road, got my guitar in my hand.

I'm sick and tired of playing in a third rate country band.

I've [D] had enough of hotel rooms, and drinking day and [A] night.-(RIFF)

And [E] Sunday when I get home with you.

Everything will be all [A]right.-(RIFF)

[A] There's taxi's all around me, they shimmer in the heat.

Traffic's tailed back half a mile, it's faster on my feet.

I'm [D] sick and tired of hotel rooms, and drinking day and [A] night.-(RIFF)

[A] I used to have a future, and a job to last my life.

Now I'm only hoping that I still have a wife.

I'm [D] sick and tired of hotel rooms, and drinking day and [A] night.-(RIFF)

And [E] Sunday when I'm home with you.

Everything will be all right.-(RIFF)

We're [F] taking off on Christmas day, and [G] heading for the [A] sun.-(RIFF)

But [F] every day's a different town, [G] a different hotel [A] room.-(RIFF)

I've [Bm] had enough of bar rooms/[C] club rooms, drinking out of [G] hours.

[F] And [E] so I'm coming home to you. Sunday will be [A] ours.-(RIFF)

[A] The promise was for money, and fame and all that stuff.

But all I've got are I.O.U.'s “we didn't make enough” .

I've [D] had enough of hotel rooms, and drinking day and [A] night.-(RIFF)

[A] These guys can't hold a country tune or play a slide guitar.

And so I'm coming home to you, and still I'm not a star.

I've [D] had enough of hotel rooms, and drinking day and [A] night.-(RIFF)

And [E] Sunday when I'm home with you. Everything will be all [A] right.-(RIFF)

And [E] Sunday when I'm home with you. Everything will be all [A] right.-(RIFF)

Re: Come Sundays

OK the story behind the song;

I used to play in a band that had aspirations to go far, so we recorded a tape full of our own stuff and sent it to several agents. We had a reply with work in Europe in US basses. So we bought a bus and did it all out, sleeping quarters etc, then we had a date on which we had to leave, which was Christmas eve!!!! my wife (now ex-wife) said how can you leave me and the kids on Christmas eve, so I told the guys to get a replacement.

The bus broke down between France and Spain. It took the guys two or three months to get home, in the mean time the wives had to pretend that they had been deserted so that they could claim social security money. I'm so glad I didn't go.

The song is basically about that with little bits added and taken away to protect the innocent?

Oh, we were a rock band and very good so the 3rd rate country band was made up.

Re: Come Sundays

This one's a keeper Phill....kind of reminded we of The Ballad of John and Yoko. How does the riff go? Adding this to my Phill W. covers.
