Topic: The Joy?

The "you" in this song is actually me and the millions of Brits that have the same opinion as me. The world knows that Maggie Thatcher (the "demonic heart" in this song) died this week. She died a multi-millionaire yet the Tory government still wants the British tax payer to pay for her funeral and all the regalia that goes with a state funeral which the non-millionaires are dead against, and will cost several million pounds. This at a time when the Tory government are cutting child welfare, old age pensions, hospital services and lots of other stuff that our parents and grandparents worked hard to get for us, which Thatcher and her cronies have been whittling away at since the 80's. If the words of this song offend you then I appologise, but it is my opinion and I stand by it. Phill

The Joy?Undefined

[G] You have no [C] words to [F] describe the [C] feelings you [G] have.

[G] This pain that [C] pulls you up and [F] down, in and [C] out, it's so [G] bad.

[F] And when you count all the [C] favours you gave.

[Em] And where they got you at the [F] end of the day?-(RIFF)

Where's the joy? Where's the joy?

You're such a rock making everyone else feel so good.

How would they feel if they ever stood where you stood?

And when they turn away and go to their bed.

You sit and cry for all the pain in your head.

Where's the joy? Where's the joy?

(CHORUS)

[F] Where's the joy, where's the [C] happiness?

[Am] All your life you worked for [G] promises.

[Em] Empty words form [F] demonic hearts.

[Am] It's all take, they won't give [G] nothing back.-(RIFF)

You can't believe there's such blind people living out there.

They see so clear but they can't see the lies that's right there.

They made their history on your blood and pain.

They twist the knife and they open your veins.

Where's the joy? Where's the joy?-(RIFF)

(SOLO > Bb-C-Am-Bb-| Eb-F-Dm-Dmaj >RIFF G-C-F-C-G)

(CHORUS)

We all die but we all have to bury ourselves.

She robbed us blind still they want us to pay for her bells.

And when she gets to those pearly gates.

They'll see the devil and they'll turn her away.

There's the joy.

There's the joy.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: The Joy?

Very well written Phill.  I understand the feelings.  Actually this song could be written for many in here the US as well.

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.
