Too be honest I run my acoustic through a digitech RP250 or my sons RP70.  The 250 is no longer made but the next one up is the 255.  I like the RP250 {and any higher model} because you can interface it with your computer and spend all day creating new patches.  The site also has a user's area for each model and you can download a whole zip of patches other pple have made and put in the grab bag. (Just last sunday the 17th, I was playing my 12 string ovation through the rp70 for a skype jam)

Really the only difference I can tell is that the 255 has a Sitar patch and a looper (nice add on)
You can probably find one or a different brand of multi processor used on flea bay or Craigs list. Just make sure the power supply is with them.  Regular stomp boxes work good also.   For any guitar a EQ box is one of the best tools, then a Compressor, delay and a chorus and reverb.
