Jerome this is a copy of the reply to my email I sent the makers of Alpha Ray,I inquired about my new midi setup and what was best as an interface I think the ASIO drivers are already installed on my laptop as I have the newest release of Audacity anyway heres what my German friend had to say.

Hi Russel, yes. It it build for this. But if you use it with a keyboard and the normal  inbuild soundcard it can be that you have latency from 0.2 to 0 5 s.
This is normal if you use windows without special equipment.

Musicians take a Asio soundcard. This reduced the latency  from 5. .12 ms.
To get fun while playing you need  a masterkeyboard with usb midi, a usb ASIO soundcard, or a ASIO4all driver. ASIO4all driver works in most cases, but is not the best solution.
