Topic: The Year Was 2012

When it comes to politics in the US I think both parties could do a great job if only one was in total power. Unfortunately that is not the case. The political system in the US seems broke to me and I have no freaking idea how to fix it, but it sure does make a good story song. Here is my prediction of what will happen this election year in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way.

The Year Was 2012 By Jeff Gilpin

May 10, 2012

Intro – D7 let it ring…

Verse 1

[G]Well the year was 2012

Di[D]sastrous pre[G]dictions

Fore[G]told the year of doom and gloom

And [D]other sad conditions

[C]Fortunate for the USA

It [G]was an election [D]year

[G]All would be set right again

Would [D]be the [C]end of [G]fear [D]

Verse 2

The [G]year started with a bang

[D]Jockeying for po[G]sitions

[G]Men of bold soul the dice did roll

They [D]all had great ambitions

But [C]one man ran the fastest

Built [G]up a lead so [D]grand

That the [G]other men they all bowed out

Then [D]said they sup[C]ported the [G]man

Chorus

With a [C]hi-de-hey we’ll win the day

Our [G]time is just at [D]hand

And we’ll [G]win the day hooray hooray

And [D]save our [C]sacred [G]land [D]

Verse 3

[G]When the dust had settled

The [D]man surveyed the [G]field

[G]Fore he had won but only one

Though [D]who he raced did yield

The [C]man had one more race to run

A [G]race all said would be [D]closer

[G]Half the people knew he would win

The [D]other [C]half said [G]no sir [D]

Verse 4

And [G]so began the final race

Two [D]runners neck and [G]neck

[G]One ran with the support of the gay

The [D]other said what the heck

For [C]I support a man and a wife

I [G]might even get a[D]nother

[G]Half the people thought this was smart

The [D]other [C]half just [G]shuttered

Chorus

With a [C]hi-de-hey we’ll win the day

Out [G]time is just at [D]hand

And we’ll [G]win the day hooray hooray

And [D]save our [C]sacred [G]land [D]

Verse 5

[G]At the end the race was tied

No [D]one could win or [G]loose

So they [G]looked upon the high court

Said [D]judges now you choose

It [C]was a split decision

Just as [G]close as a vote can [D]be

And the [G]winner got to run the land

The [D]looser was [C]you and [G]me [D]

Verse 6

So [G]which one was the winner

I [D]figured you might [G]ask

It [G]had to be one or the other

Who’d [D]in their glory bask

But [C]does it really matter

They [G]both are good and [D]bad

Sooooooo no [G]matter who we vote for

We [D]all will [C]still be [G]had [D7]

Ending Chorus 1

With a [C]toura loura loura

And [G]2012’s the [D]year

The [G]Mayan’s say it’s judgement day’s

That [D]day’ll [C]soon be [G]here [G7]

Ending Chorus 2

With a [C]yada yada yada

What[G]ever will be will [D]be

[G]Democrat or Republican

Life’s [D]just one [C]big par[G]ty

Re: The Year Was 2012

Hey Dino - Thanks.

As you can most likely tell, I am not too fond of pretty much all politicans. They are big and bold when it comes to making promises while they are running for election, but there is little to nothing getting done on the hill these days. I think all those bankers who about crashed the market a while back look like saints when they are standing next to politicans. Politicians are all crooked crooks who are trying to sink the good ship USA while they are trying to get away in their little dinghy.
