Topic: care to give an opinion (non-music related)

Ive posted this twice on my jeep forums and on facebook and no one will give me their opinion.....

A few months ago I traded tires and rims with a fellow jeeper and Ive been considering painting them mostly satin black but leaving some aluminum highlights... Below is a pic of the XJ with the back wheel photo shopped roughly how I want to paint them. Please offer up your opinions on whether I should paint or leave as is??  Got the materials here and am wanting to do them this weekend smile Just looking for some feedback from others before I do it smile   What ya think???

I don't care for the all black but I do like to experiment or be different. I once had a set of Firebird style honeycomb wheels on an El Camino. I painted everything black except the polished flat surfaces. I put Vaseline on the flat surfaces-painted-let dry- and wiped Vaseline and un wanted paint off. Looked pretty darn good.

I much prefer the look of the aluminuim. Apart from that the black plaint will probably chip and will need repeated attention to keep it looking good whereas the aluminium will just need keeping clean.

My opinion is function before form/beauty. I would leave the rims unpainted - paint chips and rims would need to be repainted thus reducing time spent trail riding, drinkin beer and playin geetar.

Favorite to least favorite.

1. Bare Aluminum
2. Painted like the first pic with some of the Alum not painted.
3. All black.

I think the black looks alot better,black is a classy color.

Wow!! Thanks for all the feedback!

Black was my plan when I got the wheels but then I mounted them and wasn't so sure.... So I've kept them aluminum these last few months while contemplating it. I've started to do it several times but keep stopping smile Scared I'd regret it....  I've decided to do one today and see how I like it smile I just finished sanding down the areas to be black and am taping the aluminum off. Figure I'll try that first and then go all all black if it doesn't look right.    At worst I replace the wheel, but I'm fairly confident I'm going to like the black better...

I like the aluminum in the front and black in back.

We pronounce it "Guf Coast".

Black definitely looks better...But I like flat black wheels. I just think the flat black is understated but elegant. (did I just say that?).

I like flat as well especially when paired with gloss... The contrast is awesome! Only problem is that flat black is almost impossible to keep clean since its a more porous finish and it fades really fast. So I use satin for everything as it's a good compromise of looks and durability.

I like what you did Pix... I was going to say that was my choice, to leave the alum "highlights".  LOOKS GOOD!
