It's fairly easy but proper tools would cost you more than just having it changed by a tech or such.... I'd say just carry it to the shop
Be happy to help you through the process though if it's something you want to learn and invest in. I'll be doing a complete re fret of my '73 dy77 in the next month or so and plan to do a write up with lots of pics and maybe some video
I removed and turned round couple of frets on my Fender that had worn so that the bass strings had the worn side. This was over 12 months ago and is still working fine. It is certainly an easier operation for a novice to perform than cutting and shaping new fretwire.
