Topic: Shocking Blue by Venus Chords

I see most of the chords posted have em/a with some c7/b7/ bsus4 in them. But taking a closer look at their video it appears he is using some additional chords. Does anyone have some good tabs that more closely reflect what he used? And how in the world does he keep his wrist so limber for the strumming? Anyway thanks, it is a great song.

Strumming pattern is eighth notes, up down up down 1+2+3+4+.
The video opens with a B suspended chord for 2 measures (8 beats).
Then E minor - A for 8 beats, B sus for 8 beats, E minor - A through "Venus was her name". A minor - D at "She's got it, then E minor - A.
C at, "I'm your venus, then B at "I'm your fire" followed by Em - A.
Chords from there are as before.
Nice tune, enjoy.

Yeah, I know these, but take a look at this link. See if you have some other thoughts.

Re: Shocking Blue by Venus Chords

Toots is correct about the strumming, however nobody ever plays the same rhythm all the way through a song and it is enhanced by omitting strums or some beats and 'double strumming' in others. As with any song learn to play it to a simple, basic strum and then add the flourishes later.

Re: Shocking Blue by Venus Chords

I play pretty well, the strumming pattern is not that difficult other than the way he does it. What I guess I am saying is the Am appears to be set on the 5th fret barred versus 3 note chord. Likewise I think the D chord is also a barred chord. Most that I have seen do not make this difference. The link I put in appears to make my observation correct. I was looking to see if anyone else would concur and if they also recognized other differences. For instance it appears when he plays A chord, that he uses his pinky. Again see the link. We can update some of the tabs out there...
