Topic: New Song - Darling Road
Posted a new song on myspace: http://www.myspace.com/nof7
It's called Darling Road - the recording is rough - it was the first time all the guys in the band ran through - and for some even heard it - and with all the instruments I was competing for volume with my vocals - we recorded it at a late 19th century one room schoolhouse outside of London, Ontario. Hope you enjoy...
Chord progression is Em G D Am with the bridge D Am D Am C then back to the verse progression.
A shot rolled over the hill down Darling Road last night
The dogs took up their chorus and a second shot stopped the night.
Headlamps lit the gravel, making searchlights in the trees.
When that Chevy hit the dam we knew it was Jimmy Deeds.
See Jimmy got hard into the rye that morning before 10am.
When Carol didn't come home he knew it wasn't just him.
He called her on the cell and Joey picked up the phone.
He yelled "Yer gonna die this time boy so you best just drive her home.
Bridge:
Past the dam the water is shallow, but the mud is deep.
Folks have lost their secrets down there and
Drowned thoughts they shouldn't keep.
Jimmy knew Joey from back in the day.
They knew from three they'd fish these sloughs til their hair turned gray.
Carol always played both sides but settled for Jim when Joe went away.
I'll stay with you she said the day they made good.
But Jimmy knew it would take more than a few words and his only suit.
When Joey came back she whispered "Nothing can stop us".
Nothing but a 12 gauge shell and the dam on Darling Road.
Bridge:
By the time Joey pulled out, a warm night had fell.
And when Joey pulled in, Jimmy's bottle was down.
But his Browning had its pin behind two shells.
