Topic: Irish tunes website
Hiya fellow Chordians
For the past year I've been playing with a group of people who are learning to play "Irish tunes". As a guitar player I think they humour me because they all play lead instruments (Accordians, Fiddles Whistles Irish banjo and even the Uilleann pipes) and they can all read music. Anyway - now the reason for this post.
We keep having new people turn up, and the first question is always "Where do I get the music from"?. Because of this, I've set up a website for us with all the sheet music on it (I've even made Frank, who sorts the music out, put the guitar chords on). Frank also plays the accordian and has recorded some tunes which we can play along with and learn the tunes.
It occured to me that other guitarists might enjoy playing along as much as I do, so I thought I'd post about it here and see what you guys think. It's all free and there is no login etc. - just help yourself. It will help, if you want to play along with the mp3's, please "right click" the link and then "save as" to save them onto your hard drive, rather that always playing them from the website.
Have fun, and any questions and comments are very welcome, either on here or via email.
Cheers
Howard
PS It's not just Irish tunes. Have a go at "My Grandfathers Ferret" to the tune of My Grandfathers Clock" or my "Tiger Bread" recipe and if you really want a laugh, there is a video of us playing at an event earlier this year.
