Topic: abuse of these sites

I just came from visiting the forum on a site that is very similar to this with one huge difference. Here the site is monitored closely and the people that visit here respect the other members and the rules. The site I am referring to is not monitored very closely(Pix,you'll know what site I'm referencing ) and as a result there is a large posting with links to,what seems like, every porn site on the web. (I realize that is probably not so but). Under a different section of the forum I found what amounts to over a hundred descriptions and links to different prescription drugs. Handy information maybe, but it has no place on a site like this. I'm not a prude or one to condemn people for what they want to look at but some people just don't get it. A lot of younger people are on here and other similar sites and don't need the exposure to trash of that sort. Long live Chordie and to the administrators and moderators a job well done

Re: abuse of these sites

Thanks bswyers - It's nice to be recognized once in a while. There was a time that chordie was being bombarded by porn spam, and that's the reason I volunteered to assist in moderating. The thought of my kids (or other kids) seeing that stuff turned my stomach. We don't see so much of that stuff these days which is a great thing - That said, I did take a bit of pleasure zapping and banning the scum when it did occur.

Come on spam scum - bring it on - we're waiting for ya!! big_smile

Rule No. 1 - If it sounds good - it is good!

Re: abuse of these sites

Yea that site has really gone down hill.... I've reported it all, contacted admin, and when I got no response there, I looked up who the domain was registered to and have contacted them but no one seems to care...

Chordie is the only way to go! smile

Re: abuse of these sites

Thanks too from me Bswyers. We, the Moderators, want Chordie to be the place where anyone can visit and feel welcome but it is not just down to us. The attitude and behaviour of you, the Members of Chordie, make our job a pleasure and very easy to fulfill. Many of you will report any infringements you see which flags it for us to see and deal with quickly. Thankfully these are infrequent and generally minor ones these days.

Re: abuse of these sites

smile Thanks Bswyers!  Those folks do come here occasionally, probably more often than the general membership thinks (because the mods are usually right on top of things) and us Mods throughly enjoy getting rid of their junk!  In fact, I just did that first thing this morning before any posts (you didn't really want to know where to get your degree online and get scammed out of that guitar money you're saving did you?).  BUT like Roger said, it is the attitude and behavior of the Members that really make our job such a pleasure (a job with no pay other than the reward of knowing we're keeping Chordie the place that you want to start a post to say how great it is!).  So, THANK YOU TO ALL THE MEMBERS that make Chordie such an awesome place to visit and help out with!  smile
