and Steve Earle stated he tried to copy and was unable to figure out. Later Guy Clark showed him how to do it. As an ardent fan of all 3 I have tried to find out what Steve was trying to copy. He said that prior to Guy Clark showing him the picking style, he finger picked over the areas it was used on.
Any ideas would be appriciated !
Most of the Townes songs that I am familiar with he is using a thumbpick, with a alternating bass and he uses his pinky alot for the melody. Alot of his songs I work on the melody by ear and work them out. I am currently working on " Nothin" and it like alot of his songs is not to difficult to pick but the timing has to be right for the little riffs he throws in.
