Best of all time...Eric Clapton. Although, SRV died way too young. Favorite Clapton solo...Crossroads...It's timeless.

nice except buckethead is a band with a few guitarists, but yes they are insanely good. i read the whole forum and nowhere did i see one of the greatest guitarists in the world, arguably the greatest, more of a riffer than a soloist, but its gotta be dimebag darrell. Angus Young is another awesome soloist that i saw barely mentioned here. One of the best solos that i have ever heard is at the end of Iron Maiden's "Flight of the Icarus". Its insanely fast. There's another song by maiden that sounds literally like a guitar synthesiser because its so fast, but i cant quite put my finger on it.

Have you ever thought of a world with no hypothetical situations??

I would say "Herman Lee" is the best guitarist in the world His in the band "Dragon Force" the best and fastest song is "through the flames and the fire"

Although Clapton is my favorite guitarist I have to say Hendrix. Seems that when Jimi first hit the sene in England Eric clapton and Pete Townsand went to see his show. After they saw his act they were bummed out beleiving they would no longer have work. Best solo Red House

GEORGE HARRISON they lead guitarist of the beatles my favourite song of his is here comes the sun a pretty melody and wah wah a rock song which ive heard is about paul mccartney giving him a headache

Favorite guitarist would have to be Hendrix, although it seems not many people besides me actually enjoy listening to his music as much as they just appreciate him. My fav. solo of his is All Along the Watchtower, simply beautiful

maybe not one of the best guitarists, but Ace Frehely (Kiss) probably had the biggest impact on me. Eddie Van Halen was my hero. Too bad he sucks now.  Joe Perry and Brad Witerford (Aerosmith) rock!!  I guess you can tell Im in my 40's.   lol

I know everyone will bug me about this, but Nottingham Lace by Brian Carrol (Buckethead) is my favorite.  Jimmy Page's Stairway to Heaven and Brian May's Bohemian Rhapsody are my 2nd and 3rd place.

My guitars: Gibson Les Paul Vintage Mahogony and Ibanez AE40 TEL acoustic.
My equipment: Peavey 100w combo (198?) and an ancient (1970's?) Crate 100w combo. A PODxt.

Sorry I had to kill this thread...I just don't think music should be about who or what is the best.  These are all opinions I suppose...
