Topic: Newbie.....Please advise........

Hi I have an electric  acoustic ARIA had it almost a month now and play everyday !!  main issue is sore fingers!! YES i know i know lol and its expected i have lovely calluses and can cope with it BUT i am almost positive i have a dodgy guitar ( it was purchased from new) but i noticed i had to really press hard down onto the B string it seems very high off the fret board and i took it back to the shop and he looked at it and said they were all the same height off the board and it must be ME!!!! AHHHHHHHH............lol..... I can get on my daughters acoustic and strum-pick away happily without any hassel at all no issues with pressing ect and yet my own lovely sounding guitar is killing my poor fingers, the other 4 strings are fine its just the 2nd & 3rd that seem Stingingly hard/sharp and like glass lol..... listen i know i am a 45 yr old frustrated musician...... singing for many years in various bands but only came to life last year when i learned to read music!! and have entered a whole new wonderful world i started with piano and have kicked that to one side to enjoy and succumb to the guitar!! BUT i feel the guy in the shop is 'Avin a larrf!  Is there any advise guys to help me figure out what is wrong... or is it really just me!!!! and am a doomed to dodgy fingers forever lol.......

please help......

voca,
calm down man ,lol.

I would say to let someone else see it other than the shop that sold you it to get their advice.

All guitars are different and it maybe that all the strings are the same level off the fretboard like the shop said but get second advice.

If it was the strings originally bought with it do not think that they are all correct. I went in a shop once and they had a different guage string for the G or the D string. I cannot remember what it was but somthing along the lines of all the strings were light gauge apart from the D which was heavy gauge.
This might be the case on your guitar. maybe not just a possibility to why it does not feel right

you could try buying a new set and see how they feel.

Re: Newbie.....Please advise........

vocal coach, you may like the sound of your guitar but it may need setting up by a competent tech to get the action lower without sacrificing sound quality.

We pronounce it "Guf Coast".
Ya'll wanna go down to the Guf?

Re: Newbie.....Please advise........

Sore fingers, rub your finger tips on your pants, jeans are best, this will ease your fingers, and help building callouses, you have to do it a lot.
Agree with everyone else, get it set up, you will get a new set of strings, so ask for the ones you want.
I also have an aria, it is a fair guitar that plays well.
